PRESCHOOL AGE DANCE PROGRAMS & DESCRIPTIONS:

We have a ONE-TIME $25 registration fee
($10 per each additional family member) for
new students.
ALL TINYTOTS© and PRE-DISCOVERY and ADULT Dance Classes
are available on a MONTH-TO-MONTH, ONGOING BASIS.
You may join anytime!

TINYTOTS© is an ongoing,
35-minute class held once per week. AGES ARE GENERALLY FROM 13 MONTHS- 36 MONTHS. Moms, Dads, or other family members may
accompany their own Tiny Tot as they learn the first stages of real
ballet and jazz to familiar tunes. They'll also enjoy floor
gymnastics, and elements of yoga and sign language, all through
music, motion, fun songs and games! We encourage imaginative exploration within a structured environment. Taking turns, social networking, learning to gently transfer the loving bond from family to teacher in a secure environment are some of the carefully prepared ineractions that we target. Music and activites are rotated weekly to maintain the highest level of interest and excitement!
TINYTOTS TRANSITIONAL© (ongoing,
35-minute class,once per week) This class is a
carefully designed stepping-stone for enhancing your child's entry
into preschool, and experiencing the perfect head start for the next
dance level. Bonding and attachment techniques from parent to teacher are emphasized and encouraged. When the child demonstrates that he/she is emotionally and physically ready, the dancers moves up
to the next stage in the carefully created curriculum: Dance Discovery, where they get
their tap shoes and parents can watch them dance from our
observation areas. This can take place as early as age 2 or 2 1/2.
Classes are ongoing and you may register at any time!
PRE-DISCOVERY © Experience the thrill of your child being independent in a trusting, nurturing arena of dance! This class is uniquely prepared to be a 40 minute exciting bundle of creative movement, strong dance foundations, music recognition, jazz rhythms, acro/floor gymnastics and musicality through tap! Your little one will interact directly, one-on-one with their professional dance instructor while you sit back and enjoy watching their joy through our one-way mirrored, observation area. The general age for this groups is from 2+-3 years. The usual pre-requisitve for this class is our TinyTots© program and is invitational only upon assessment.
DANCER'S ATTIRE: Girl's Dancewear:: pink leotard (soft, chiffon skirt from hip only, is allowed), pink tights, pink split-sole canvas ballet shoes or pink grippy socks if feet are very tiny;;
BOYS ATTIRE: white T-shirt and black stretchy pants or black shorts, black socks and black ballet shoes or grippy socks.
Your child's feet will be evaluated and professionally fitted at our Academy for his/her first pair of ballet shoes.
PARENT'S ATTIRE: should be comfortable workout
clothes or dance pants. Your child's feet will be evaluated and professionally fitted for his/her first pair of ballet shoes.
SEMESTER DANCE PROGRAMS:
PRESCHOOL AGE DANCE PROGRAMS
Our progressive curriculum is syllabus-based by semester. Semesters are September through January and February through June. We have a separate Summer Semester. Fall and Spring Semester tuitions are paid per
semester (not monthly), due in three convenient installments, if your prefer. There is a savings when paid all up front.
Dance Discovery I & II are designed as beginner classes for young dancers, ages 2 1/2
to 5. (45 minutes, once-per-week, "combo" class). Our nationally certified preschool dance program is
syllabus-based and progressive. This "FUNTASTIC" program is
specifically created to enhance your child's love of dance in our
caring and nurturing environment. Within a structured curriculum,
your little one will learn to love the basic ballet positions, the
names of the positions and steps, as well as floor gymnastics and
tap, creative movement, rhythm, and musicality, all through
interactive games and imaginative play. Trained early childhood
development instructors bring out your child's best qualities to
reinforce their confidence and promote a healthy self-image.
DANCE ATTIRE: is pink tights, pink
leotard, pink split-sole canvas ballet shoes, black tap shoes and tap ties.


ELEMENTARY DANCE PROGRAMS:
We are known for our
quick-paced and highly focused "combination" classes.
These are
curriculums that include ballet, jazz, tap, and floor gymnastics,
all in one lesson, one time per week, created specifically for the busy parents' convenience. Also, you pay only one tuition rate,
instead of multiple fees for multiple skills. This saves you time
and money while your child continues to receive a full curriculum.
Dance Dynamics is an intermediary class for children
who are ready for a slightly advanced dance curriculum. It is
available for children ages 4 to 7. This is a 1-hour class, one time
per week. The dancer's own development sets the pace for learning
ballet, jazz, tap and basic floor gymnastics. Terminology and
choreography are reinforced through repetition and creative play.
PROPER DANCE ATTIRE: for Dance Dynamics is
pink tights, lavendar leotard, pink split-sole canvas ballet shoes, black tap shoes
and tap ties.
Dance Readiness is a transitional class from Dance
Dynamics OR for the slightly older dancer who is taking their introduction to dance. This one hour per week class is available for ages 5 to 7 and from 8-Up.
Dancers begin to advance their skills and technique through the
introduction of the Ballet Barre. Barre helps to improve
coordination and grace. Jazz now includes strength, isolations,
flexibility, musicality and rhythm. More complex choreography is
emphasized in tap.
PROPER DANCE ATTIRE: for Dance Readiness is pink tights, lavender
leotard, pink split-sole canvas ballet shoes, black leather split-sole tap shoes.
Boys Tap is a high energy experience for guys who want to
make some noise with their feet. This class promises to be a once in a lifetime oportunity to particpitate in the very best, while gaining confidence being with the boys and having tons of fun!
DANCE ATTIRE: for Boys Tap class is a
white T-shirt, black pants and black split-sole tap shoes (dance "belt" for older boys)..

UPPER SCHOOL DANCE PROGRAMS:
Little STARZ I
(75 minute OR 90 minute COMBINATION class, once a week)
STARZ classes are by invitation only /ages 4-6 and from 7-Up.
Requires previous dance or gymnastic experience. The classes feature
fast-paced accelerated curriculum designed for the truly devoted
dancer. This is the "first rung" of our Upper School ladder and emphasizes the beauty of extremely strong ballet foundations as well as including floor gymnastics & conditioning, intro to jazz moves and Upper School Level Tap. This class is also perfect for the older dancer's first introduction to the world of dance!

burgundy leotard, pink split-sole, canvas ballet shoes, black split-sole tap shoes and black jazz boots.
NOTE: YOU MAY TAKE THE BALLET ONLY CLASS, IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS (tuition will be pro-rated)
Rising STARZ IIC (ages 4-6)
(Tuesday/Friday: total 2 hours per week)
Classes are taught in one hour classes twice per week. The first class focuses on ballet "rubric" (the "A, B, C's" of ballet fundamentals). The second class, later in the week is a "combo' of Core (Floor Gymnastics/Acro), Jazz (leaps and turns) and basic Tap.
Rising STARZ IIB (ages 5-7)
(Monday/Wednesday: total 2 -1/4 hours per week)
Classes are taught in a one hour class for the next level of essential elementals of classical ballet barre and technique. The second class of the week combines more intricate choreography patterns, linking steps, and strengthening and flexibility for Jazz. Tap is taken to the next level including broadening tap terminology and improving technical execution.

Rising STARZ IIA (ages 6-8)
(Tuesday/Thursday: total 2 1/2 hours per week)
Prerequisite is Little STARZ or STARZ IIB. Minimum of two, 75 minute classes per week is required. Ballet barre, technique, strength & terminology are emphasized in the first class of the week. Our second day focuses on jazz rhythms, choreography, flexibility (core/floor gymnastics/modern), as well as the more well-known tap combinations and character dances. We also now include contemporary/modern and intro to dance improve!

Transitional STARZ IIIB (ages 7-UP)
(Tuesday/Thursday:total 3 1/2 hours per week)
Prerequisite is upon approval by the Director. Ages 7 and Up are encouraged to graduate into this totally encompassing dance program. These level truly prepares the student to be excited about the rigors of the dance life. Our dancers thrive on this fun, intensive and interactive approach to our highly excellent, progressive, syllabus-based curriculum. We take pride in our small classes that focus on personal attention and individual instruction.

STARZ IIIA (Pre-Teens/Teens-UP)
(Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday): 4-6+ hours per week)
This is a pre-professional intensive dance program designed for the truly committed dancer. Pre-requisite is upon approval by the Director.
Ages 9 and Up are encouraged to graduate into this well-rounded encompassing dance program.
Our dancers thrive on this fun, intensive and interactive approach to our highly excellent, progressive, syllabus-based curriculum, which focuses on intermediate to advanced, strong ballet foundamentals, pre-pointe and pointe, modern, tap (elective), jazz, hip hop (elective), kickline, contemporary, improvography, core conditioning (elective), variation/partnering, and student choregraphy (elective). Great focus is given to strength conditioning, and classes in specific technique for preparation for the Governor's Schools for the Arts. We take pride in our small, highly structured classes that focus on personal attention and individual instruction in an encouraging and absolutely nurturing environment!

SPECIALTY DANCE PROGRAMS:
Specialty Dance classes are available on a month by month
basis.
These include the following offerings:
HIP-HOP on Wednesday
evenings is a fusion of high energy dance styles! This class is great for the student who just wants to come and have fun, as well as the serious dancer looking to improve their hip hop skills. All movements will be modest and age approperate, and all music will be free of questionable lyrics. So come groove to the beats of the latest songs as you warm up and learn to use your body as your own personal form of artistic self-expression through an exciting, innovative dancestyle. With two levels to facilitate age and curriculum appropriateness;
younger students dance at 6:30 pm,
while teens and adults dance at 7:30 pm.
ADULT BASIC BALLET & BODYWORKS:
This beginner-friendly experience
is a one hour per week class for women and men. Previous dance
experience is not required. The class is designed to allow
participants to strengthen and tone at their own pace. Classical choreography
improves coordination and grace through ballet basics, contemporary and modern techniques. Fun highlights are snippets of Zumba, Pilates and Yoga! You will receive individualized attention; a program designed specifically for you!
This class is offered on
Wednesday evenings 6:30-7:45 pm.
ADULT TAP: a one hour per week class for women and men. Previous dance
experience is not required. Come for an hour @ 7:15 pm on Monday evenings,
and tap your troubles away.

ADULT LYRICAL/STUDENT CHOREOGRAHY: on Monday
evenings! The true spirit of dance comes from within
and fills the space between us. We share the secrets of how to use your body as a physical form of your inner expression. Come join this truly unique experience! (6:00 pm)
ADULT CONTEMPORARY & TECHNIQUE: on Thursday
evenings @ 6:30! Master teacher, Howei Belledino shares his intensive training and performance techniques with you, for the dancer seeking strong technical foundation of the art of ballet. Mr. Howei's strength and poise fuse together to provide a most unique arena werein you may be challenged and still creative.
MASTER MODERN: on Thursday
evenings @ 5:15
Master teacher, Howei Belledino's expertise shines onto each individual dancer as he specifies the diversities of modern techniques from Ailey to Duncan, Graham, Hawkins blended with Mr Howei's own ecclectic style!
MASTER BALLET & TECHNIQUE: Expert curriculum designed by Ms Monique and assisted by Ms Mary brings a unique blend of extremely focused technical training carried down from the renowned Balanchine Ballet Method combined with a refreshing approach to this classic dance form.

Center Stage STARZ Performing Company
Our award-winning Performing Company has placed first all-around at such prestigious reginal competitions as Starbound, Platinum, StarTalent, OnStage America, Encore, I Love Dance, just to name a few. Our Centre Stage STARZ Performance Company is proud to announce that we have been invited do many shows in our local cultural arts and special needs community. We have entertained at Envoy Ruxton Hall, Heritage Hall and Sentara Leigh Assisted Care Facility, as well as Waterside's Main Stage at the the National Dance Week Kick-Off, and most recently the Family Stage at the Isle of Wight County Fair and at the Jewish Family community Center, to name just a few. We are delighted to teach our dancers to share their gift and to give back. They are learning that community service is the cornerstone to great citizenship.
